We leave on Monday and there are still a few loose ends to be tied up. The biggest obstacle has been to get a six month supply of all of our medications. I cannot imagine the logistics of leaving the country for an extended period of time without the internet. Paying bills, communicating and keeping track of the Tar Heels will all be possible half a world away - truly amazing. I have even been able to arrange for a taxi to take us from the airport in Budapest to the train station.
We have not actually packed the bags yet. I am quite sure that we still face a few challenges and negotiations regarding the amount of space allocated to each of us.
Carol agreed to give a paper at an English Culture conference in Pecs two days after we arrive. So, in addition to all of our regular preparations, she is writing a paper. The 10 hour plane ride from San Francisco to Frankfort will give her some time to polish it and prepare for her presentation.
On to packing.
