Hard to believe but we have been here a full week. The beautiful weather that you saw in our pictures was short lived. Today was rainy and cold with some sleet and a touch of snow mixed in. Not so good by SLO standards but darn good if compared to many parts of the US. The forecast is for a few more days of this type of weather before it turns to partly cloudy.
We have made several more trips to the Arkad and Spar for food and supplies. We now have a drying rack and ironing board. I went with Carol to school today to learn how to access their version of Blackboard. She was able to download her list of students and found that she is scheduled to teach one class on Tuesday and two classes on Wednesday. Not a bad schedule and plenty of time for the weekend trips we hope to do.
A word about the food. Yummy! It certainly is not what we are accustomed to but it is a lot better than it sounds. Many of the meat dishes are breaded and fried but they are not heavy and greasy. The soups have been wonderful and we have had several salads with flavorful tomatoes and fresh, light dressing. Fresh bread and pastries are on every other street corner and the little mini markets have beer, water and the like.
One of Carol's colleagues, Gabi Voo, came over late this afternoon for a cup of tea and some general chatting. She and Carol talked about what to expect from the students and she clarified some of the course requirements. She has promised to take us on some of her twice weekly doggie walks up into the hills around town when the weather clears up.
We still don't have English speaking TV but lots of tennis has been on and the players grunts need no translations. We had planned to watch our favorite TV shows using HULU or some such service but that is not working in Europe. I have tried a service that will mask our IP address and assign a US IP but the streaming is so slow that it is worthless. I'm still trying to figure that one out.
That's all for now. I'll include some pictures of our apartment when there is enough light out to produce a good picture. Love to all.

It looks like you all are really settling into the life of a visiting prof. The scenery sounds fantastic and the city of Pesc really looks neat. Glad you are enjoying the food. Sorry your weather has turned sour. We had 3/4" of ice yesterday and about 3" of snow today. Trees down everywhere and some loss of power - not ours thankfully. We are enjoying your blog very much and will try and call you in the near future. It might help those of us who wish to call to let us know if you have any particular time that is best. Say Hi to Carol and keep the info coming.
