Laundry—Carol’s post

No one can say that this is not an interesting topic. Doing laundry overseas is an adventure. Fortunately all the apartments here have a washing machine, a very, very small one and no one has a dryer. What they call dryers here are racks. When we did our first batch of laundry, we draped clothes all over the apartment and with cold, rainy weather, believe me it takes forever for anything to dry. This explains why most people seem to wear the same set of clothes two days in a row. I feel my hygiene slipping all ready and am enjoying the process. Tom and I walked to the Interspar, big supermarket, and bought a drying rack that also came with an ironing board; of course, we have no iron. In the rain Tom carried home the rack and ironing board while I carried a huge pillow. We are now quite excited by our rack and have included a picture. Progress is being made. Just in case anyone is wondering, I am working on class syllabi and such.

  1. Usually when displaced persons write personal accounts of their adventures in faroff lands, they make sure that we know that they are holding firm to the standards we all hold dear...it's refreshing, or is it disturbing, to hear about you, Carol. It's entertaining, that's what. So keep it up.
Did you manage to see Nadal's semi-final match?
